For obvious security reasons, you might want to lock your Windows XP workstation for instance if you need to step away from your computer for a few minutes.
Several ways to lock Windows XP
Via the keyboard
If you have a Windows keyboard, the simplest way to lock your Windows XP is to hold down the Windows logo key, then Press L.
The Windows logo key is the key on the standard Windows keyboard between the Ctrl and Alt keys. It has the Windows logo on it.
Other ways to lock Windows XP
If you don’t have a Windows keyboard, there’re other ways to lock your Windows XP workstation:
Via Start/Run
Click on the Start menu.
Select Run.
Enter this command line:
rundll32.exe user32.dll, LockWorkStation
Via a shortcut
Right click an empty area of your Windows desktop.
Choose New/Shortcut.
Enter this command line:
rundll32.exe user32.dll, LockWorkStation
Then click Next.
Choose your preferred name for the shortcut.
Click Finish.
If you’d like to associate an icon to your shortcut, right click the shortcut and choose Properties/Shortcut/Change Icon.
